About Laminectomy Punches

A Kerrison punch has a thin footplate that slides under the edge of the bone and a sliding upper jaw that bites the bone away against the footplate. Choose the angle (40° or 90°), up or down biting, the bite width and the length. Thin-footplate, wide-opening, bayonet and long anterior versions suit different approaches, and one version ejects the removed bone. A curved foraminotomy punch and an osteo-rotating punch are also listed. Rongeurs with cupped jaws for disc material are in Disc Rongeurs.
