About Disc Rongeurs

Disc rongeurs, also called pituitary rongeurs, have small cupped jaws on a long shaft to remove disc material and soft tissue through a narrow opening. Jaws are straight or angled up or down, smooth or toothed; Caspar, Cushing, Ferris-Smith and Schlesinger patterns differ in jaw shape, and micro versions have the smallest cups. Lengths run from 15 to 28 cm. Kerrison punches for bone are in Laminectomy Punches.
