About Bone Rongeurs and Nibblers

Rongeurs and nibblers are the same instrument: spring-handled forceps with sharp, cupped jaws that remove bone in small bites. Double-action patterns such as Leksell and Stille-Luer have two joints, which add force for dense bone; single-action patterns such as Beyer are lighter. Jaws are straight or curved, from narrow Jansen and Echlin duckbill tips to wide Luer jaws. Lengths run from 15 to 25 cm. Bone cutters with straight blades are in Bone Cutting and Holding Forceps.
