The Littauer Ear Polypus Forceps is built for a specific task: grasping ear canal polyps firmly enough to remove them intact under controlled traction, without the polyp sliding out of the jaws. Polypoid tissue is rounded, wet and has a low coefficient of friction—exactly the combination that defeats smooth or lightly serrated jaws. The Littauer jaw profile addresses this with a grip geometry that conforms to the polyp surface and holds under the pulling force needed to avulse the base.
At 10 cm (4″) overall length the instrument is sized for ear canal work in both the outpatient and operating room settings, short enough for precise control but with adequate reach to access the deep bony canal.
