The Brown Adson TC Forceps carries the Brown pattern jaw — two rows of fine intermeshing teeth spread across a broad tip — with tungsten carbide inserts brazed into the gripping surface. The multiple-tooth arrangement distributes hold across a wide tissue footprint, which is why this pattern is standard in rhinoplasty and skin closure: it holds a flap edge securely without the single-point crush of a 1×2 tooth forceps.
The tungsten carbide inserts are the reason for the price differential over plain stainless. TC is substantially harder than surgical steel, so the teeth retain their profile through years of use and sterilisation instead of gradually rounding off and losing grip. Gold-plated ring handles identify TC instruments on the tray.
