Description
Eye scissors are small scissors with large finger rings and fine blades, for delicate work in eye and other microsurgery. They are also used for nerves, tendons and vessels in other fine surgery, and for fine sutures.
Choose straight or curved blades with sharp or blunt tips, in 9.5, 10 or 11.5 cm. Store them closed and use them only on the material they are made for, so the edges stay sharp.
Protect the fine tips during cleaning and storage. They are supplied non-sterile: clean and sterilise them before use.

Care and use
Before first use
They are supplied non-sterile. Clean and sterilise them before first use, then check that the tips meet and the blades close smoothly along their length.
Cleaning
Clean them as soon as possible after use so nothing dries on. Use a neutral (pH 7) instrument detergent with the blades open; an ultrasonic cleaner reaches the joint best. Rinse well, ideally in distilled water, and dry completely.
Lubricating and sterilising
Before sterilising, treat the joint with a water-soluble instrument lubricant. Sterilise them with the blades slightly open, following your steriliser's instructions and your facility's process.
What to avoid
Saline, bleach and other chloride solutions cause pitting and corrosion in stainless steel. Don't soak or rinse the instrument in them, and keep it apart from instruments made of other metals during cleaning.
