The Collin Hemostatic Forceps clamps and holds bleeding vessels during general, gynaecological and ENT procedures. The ratchet lock is the defining feature: once engaged, jaw pressure is maintained mechanically, so the instrument can be left in place on a vessel while the surgeon proceeds with ligation or moves to another bleeding point.
At 16 cm the forceps sits in the general surgical working range — long enough to reach into an open abdominal or neck field, short enough for controlled placement. The box joint aligns the jaws precisely, and jaw alignment is what determines whether a hemostat actually occludes a vessel or merely compresses it.
