About Tissue and Grasping Forceps

Allis forceps have small interlocking teeth for a firm hold on tough tissue. Babcock forceps have smooth, rounded, fenestrated jaws that surround delicate tissue such as bowel without piercing it. Duval and Collins forceps have wide triangular jaws for lung and bowel, and Pennington and Pratt-Smith forceps grasp tissue in rectal surgery. Mayo-Blake (gallstone), Randall (kidney stone) and Malik (cystic duct) forceps are made for one organ each. Intestinal versions are marked atraumatic on the listing.
