The Watson–Williams Nasal Polyp Forceps is deliberately built without a cutting edge. In polyp removal the aim is to grasp the polyp body and deliver traction until the stalk separates at its base — a cutting jaw would divide the polyp mid-body, leaving the stalk and base in place to recur. The delicate non-cutting jaw holds the polyp securely enough to apply that traction while causing minimal trauma to the mucosa it contacts on the way in and out.
At 11 cm working shaft and 17 cm overall the instrument reaches the middle meatus and ethmoid region through the nostril with the handle clear of the endoscope. It pairs naturally with a through-cutting forceps: Watson–Williams for the polyp mass, the cutting instrument for the residual base.
