The Tufnol handle is what distinguishes this mallet. A solid metal instrument returns much of each impact back up the shaft into the operator’s hand and wrist, and across a long procedure that accumulated shock produces fatigue and a coarsening of fine control. Tufnol is a laminated composite that damps the returning vibration in the handle, so the energy goes forward into the osteotome rather than back into the surgeon.
At 145 g with a 20 mm head this is the smallest and lightest pattern in the range, built for tasks where the strike is measured in fractions of a millimetre — fine osteotomy, delicate dental work, seating a small component. The 17 cm length keeps the whole instrument within finger-and-wrist control, which is the level of precision this weight is chosen for in the first place.
