The Takahashi Nasal Forceps is a general-purpose workhorse of nasal and sinus surgery. Its oval cupped jaws close on tissue without a cutting edge, so what comes out is a contained specimen rather than a crushed one — which is why the same instrument serves both for clearance and for taking biopsy samples that a pathologist can actually read.
Three bite sizes are offered. The choice is a working trade-off, not a preference: a larger bite clears bulk faster but reduces control near a critical margin such as the lamina papyracea or skull base, while a smaller bite works safely in tight spaces at the cost of more passes. The 16 cm working shaft reaches the posterior ethmoid and sphenoid region.
