The Stryucken Turbinate Forceps solves a specific problem in turbinectomy: turbinate mucosa is smooth, wet and mobile, so a plain cutting jaw pushes the tissue ahead of the blade instead of dividing it. This instrument opposes a sharp through-cutting lower blade against a serrated upper blade. The serrations grip and anchor the mucosa at the moment of closure; the lower edge then cuts against a fixed target rather than a sliding one.
The jaw dimensions — 1.0 mm wide by 15.0 mm long — are shaped for the anatomy: narrow enough to work along the turbinate surface without engaging the underlying bone, long enough to excise a full strip of mucosa in a single controlled pass. Overall length is 17 cm with an 11 cm shaft.
