The Myles Nasal Punch cuts backward — the jaw engages tissue as the instrument is drawn toward the surgeon rather than pushed away. That direction matters for safety and accuracy: on a forward-cutting punch the jaw is advancing into tissue the surgeon cannot fully see past, while a backward cut lets the tip be placed beyond the target under direct vision, then closed and withdrawn against a known margin.
The angled-up jaw suits superior targets — the uncinate process, the ethmoid bulla, the roof of the middle meatus — presenting the 2.0 × 10.0 mm bite squarely to tissue above the shaft line. The 115 mm working length places the jaw at the middle meatus with the handle clear of the endoscope.
