Sharp or blunt is not a preference here, it is a decision about risk. Sharp tips engage a structure immediately and can be worked into a plane that has not yet opened — which is what fine dissection through tissue layers requires. Blunt tips cannot start a plane, but they also cannot perforate one: pushed against a vessel or a nerve they displace it rather than entering it.
In a microsurgical field the surgeon often knows which risk matters before the case begins, which is why both are stocked rather than one compromise tip. At 159 mm with a bayonet shank the instrument reaches into a deep narrow corridor with the hand offset from the sightline — and at that depth, under magnification, choosing the tip correctly beforehand matters more than it would at the surface, where a mistake is visible immediately.
