The Hartmann–Hoffmann Ear Alligator Punch Forceps merges two instrument functions—alligator grip and punch cut—into a single jaw action. When the jaws close, the alligator teeth grip the tissue while the cutting edge at the jaw rim severs it. The result is a clean biopsy-quality tissue specimen removed in one motion, without the tissue tearing or slipping that occurs when a standard forceps is used to avulse rather than cut.
At 8.5 cm (3¼″) the instrument works through an ear speculum for polyp removal, biopsy and debridement in the external and middle ear.
