The Frazier suction tube is probably the most widely used microsurgical suction instrument in the world. Its design is simple and its success comes from that simplicity: a thin-walled tube with a smooth atraumatic tip, a proximal finger vent for vacuum control, and a stylet for clearing blockages. Every component is there because the instrument works badly without it, and nothing is there that does not contribute.
Multiple sizes are stocked. The number on a Frazier corresponds to its French gauge (Fr), which is the outer circumference in millimetres. Smaller numbers suit neurosurgery and ear work; larger numbers handle the fluid volumes of nasal and sinus surgery.
