A solid blade holds tissue back as a continuous surface, and that is the simplest and firmest form of retraction available. Nothing passes through it, nothing catches on an opening, and there is no mechanism to fail mid-procedure. Where the fibre optic and suction versions add function at the cost of bulk and cleaning complexity, this one does the single job with nothing to go wrong.
8 mm is narrow, which is what keeps a solid blade usable inside a nostril. A wider solid blade holds more tissue but also occupies more of the space it created, and in a cavity this size that trade turns against the surgeon quickly. 152 mm puts the working end well down the nasal cavity with the hand outside the nostril.
