The Greven Ear Grasping Forceps carries jaws measuring 3 × 1 mm — long and narrow rather than square. That proportion is deliberate: it grips a prosthesis shaft or a strip of fascia graft along the full 3 mm jaw length, distributing hold force so the object does not pivot out of the grasp the way it can in a short square jaw.
The 70 mm shaft is shorter than the 8 cm standard, which brings the surgeon’s fingers slightly closer to the tip and increases tactile feedback for the fine manipulation this instrument is used for.
