Potts-Smith Thumb Forceps – Serrated, Nylon Coated Option

Original price was: $34.00.Current price is: $29.99.

Potts-Smith thumb forceps with narrow finely serrated jaws. Offered as dressing forceps, as tissue forceps with 1×2 teeth, and with a non-conductive nylon coating for electrosurgery.

SKU: NJM-14449 Categories: ,

The nylon-coated version is the one worth understanding. In LEEP, LLETZ and similar electrosurgical procedures the surgeon holds tissue with one instrument while current passes through another close by — and a bare steel forceps in that field is a conductor, able to carry current to wherever its jaws happen to be touching. A non-conductive coating removes that path entirely, so the forceps holds tissue without becoming part of the circuit.

The uncoated versions cover ordinary work: serrated jaws grip dressings and flat material by friction, 1×2 teeth interlock for traction on tissue. Narrow jaws run through all three, which is what suits the pattern to confined access — a cervix, a nasal cavity, any field entered through a speculum where jaw width decides whether the instrument fits at all.
