About Towel and Sponge Forceps
Towel clamps hold drapes and towels together. Backhaus, Jones and Schaedel clamps have pointed jaws that pierce the drape; non-perforating clamps grip it without piercing. Sponge holding forceps, such as Foerster, Maier and Rampley, have looped, ring-shaped jaws that hold a swab for skin preparation or blotting; the jaws are smooth or serrated, straight or curved. Lengths run from about 18 to 26 cm.
