About Tongue Depressors and Finger Guards

Tongue depressors hold the tongue down to show the throat. Spatula patterns include Bruenings, Buchwald, Doyen and Frenzel; angled patterns such as Tobold, Andrews and Bosworth keep the hand out of the line of sight, and the Wieder depressor has a heart-shaped blade. The Hanna depressor has an 18 mm curved blade. The Langenbeck finger guard protects the examiner's finger.
