This is the same pattern as the 19 cm cervical mallet scaled up on both axes, and the two are chosen against each other rather than being interchangeable. 335 g does more work per blow, which suits denser bone and the earlier, bulk stages of a cut where progress with a 215 g head becomes slow and the repeated striking itself tires the hand.
The extra 4 cm of handle matters as much as the weight. Cervical exposures are deep and narrow, and the mallet is often swung above a draped assistant’s hands and retractors; the longer handle keeps the striking hand clear of that clutter and lets the surgeon hit the osteotome squarely down its axis. An off-axis blow deflects the chisel rather than advancing it, so clearance to swing straight is a precision issue, not a comfort one.
