This is the narrow member of the Biggs family, and the 3 cm blade is chosen against the wider patterns rather than as a compromise. Breast reduction and reconstruction involve working into pockets and along pedicles where the space is genuinely confined; a wide blade in those places cannot be seated flat and ends up levering on its corner, which both loses the exposure and bruises the tissue it is bearing on.
The short 152 mm length follows the same logic. Retraction here is close work — the surgeon’s hand and the assistant’s are both in a small field, and a long handle collides with instruments coming from the other direction. This is the version without a suction tube: nothing to connect, nothing to clear, and a lower profile in a field where an attached tube would add bulk exactly where the space is tightest.
