Extra-fine is the finest grade offered here, and it is the version where titanium earns its cost most clearly. The limiting factor on a point this slender is not what it can hold — it is whether the two tips still meet after use. Titanium resists corrosion better than steel through repeated sterilisation, and corrosion at a point measured in tenths of a millimetre is what ends its working life.
Straight points keep the tip directly in line with the hand, which is what the finest work needs: at this scale the surgeon is not reaching around anything, they are placing a point on an exact spot, and any offset between hand and tip is another correction to make. The curved titanium version trades that directness for a clearer sightline — the right choice when the shaft would otherwise block the view, not when the target is already in front of the tips.
