The Schmeden Nasal Cutting Forceps is one of the shorter instruments in the nasal cutting range at 12 cm. That is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation: reach is only an advantage up to the point where it costs control, and for work in the anterior nasal cavity and vestibule the surgeon’s hand sits close to the target anyway. A shorter shaft transmits more tactile feedback and reduces the lever effect that amplifies small hand tremors at the tip.
The through-cutting jaws divide tissue cleanly rather than avulsing it, leaving a defined margin that heals without the scarring associated with torn mucosa. Several sizes are available to match bite volume to the procedure.
